waSlot ("we", "us", "our") operates the booking platform at waslot.co.za. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

2. What We Collect

When you use waSlot as a client, we collect:

  • Name — so providers know who is coming in for their appointment.
  • Phone number — to send booking confirmations, reminders, and notifications via SMS.
  • Booking details — the service, date, and time you booked, and any deposit transactions associated with your booking.

When you register as a provider, we additionally collect:

  • Business or trading name and service descriptions.
  • Location (city or area) for display on your public profile.
  • Profile and cover photos you upload to represent your business.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your bookings.
  • Send you SMS notifications about your booking status — confirmations, reminders, and any updates from your provider.
  • Allow providers to contact clients regarding their appointments.
  • Improve the platform — understanding how it is used helps us fix problems and build better features.

We do not use your personal information for any purpose beyond what is described above without your explicit consent.

4. SMS Consent

By providing your phone number and completing a booking on waSlot, you consent to receiving SMS messages related to that booking. These messages include booking confirmations, appointment reminders, and status updates.

Message frequency depends on your booking activity. Standard network rates may apply. You may opt out of non-essential messages at any time by contacting us at hello@waslot.co.za.

5. We Do Not Sell Your Data

waSlot does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes. Full stop.

6. Who We Share Data With

Your information is shared only where necessary to deliver the service:

  • Providers — your name and phone number are visible to the provider you have booked with, so they can prepare for and contact you about your appointment.
  • SMS gateway providers — we use third-party SMS services to deliver booking notifications. These services process your phone number solely to send messages on our behalf.
  • Payment processors — deposit transactions are handled by our payment partner. We do not store full card details on our servers.

7. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers hosted within or accessible from South Africa. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to safeguard your data.

8. Your Rights (POPIA)

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to legal obligations.
  • Object to the processing of your personal information.
